Our Temperament Testing
We take the guess work out of a
pup’s personality.
When you are talking about
temperament and personality you are talking about one in the same. A dog’s
personality is also a dog’s temperament.
We test all our pups around 6-7
weeks of age and we will post each pup’s results.
We have 6 different personality
types and each pup will fit into one of these 6 categories when we do our
testing. How you raise your pup can change it’s personality in the end. Raise with love, understanding and patience and you will
have an excellent end result. The first weeks of life here we instill trust and
love which sparks a personality that lives to please, eager to learn and social
beyond words. A pup’s personality can be inherited while others are created by
love and affection. We have well rounded parent dogs and we work with all of
our pups to put their best paw forward. You need to continue this work to have
the ultimate family companion. Any bad experience can make the pup loose faith
in you and this can alter what the end result turns out to be.
We give these tests because each
pup will learn different and knowing how to respond to your pups behavior
starts with knowing how to handle your pup. Example- A
Strong Willed pup will take a firm voice where a firm voice could intimidate a
Shy pup causing it to become with drawn.
Our Six Personality Traits Are As Follows
1.
Alert
2. High Energy
3. Strong Willed
4. Shy
5. Easy Going
6. Aggressive (This trait is broken into two
personalities, Fear and Dominate Aggressive. Neither trait we have ever
encountered with any of our pups. These pups have either picked up this trait
from its parents or by being abused. These pups should only be bought / trained
by professionals).
How We Score Our Pups
We score all our pups on a scale
from 1 being low to 5 being high. We give recommendations to families whether
they are novice to raising pups or are experienced. We want each family to have
a match made specifically for them.
Tests We Give To Find Out What Personality Trait Your Pup
Has
1. Social Attraction - How friendly and responsive they are
to people.
2. Sensitivity to Noise - How the pup reacts to
loud noises.
3. Discipline – How the pup reacts to vocal
discipline. It is not our intention to scare the pup but these tests help to
see where a pup best fits into a trait.
4. Personality strength – Dominate type may be
out going, independent and protective.
5. Tolerance – What is the physical sensitivity
of the pup…again it is not our intention to scare the pup and no harm is given
in any way.
6.
Peer Social Skills – How the pup reacts to other dogs.
